I’m looking forward to seeing it too….this backwater city i live in is always behind when it comes to movie releases…except for Sandler’s goofy crap.

Rourke and Springsteen at brick lane….and maybe Bono?

The laughter in the eyes of Springsteen when Rourke was up on the podium made me tear right up.

Only a human being who has experienced the broken bone sufferings could write such a masterpiece. Only a human being who has lived the broken bone sufferings could genuinely tap into the weeping soul wounds and put on a performance like Rourke did in this movie. We have much to learn from this story…both the movie and their personal lives.

maybe our best selves…our humbled scraped and dislocated selves is where we can live with authentic reverence?

i was thinking last night about the passage in the Bible where we are invited to pick up our crosses and walk with Jesus. May we all have the strength to do so….and if we need help, may we always know there are others whose love will carry some of that burden too.
shared tears, shared sorrows reframes the heaviness of our crosses… let us learn and grow together.
